W dniach 17-18 czerwca 2010 roku w miejscowości Wiśniowa w woj. małopolskim, odbyła się konferencja na temat szerokiego zagadnienia ochrony ciemnego nieba. Spotkanie było zorganizowane z okazji realizowanego projektu polsko-słowackiego pt. "Karpacke nebo", co przyczyło się do licznego uczestnictwa zarówno zainteresowanych jak i prelegentów z obu krajów. Na konferencji nie zabrakło również przedstawicieli lokalnych władz, naukowców, pracowników firm związanych z oświetleniem, a także działaczy Programu Ciemne Niebo Stowarzyszenia POLARIS - OPP. |

On the 29th of September 2009 a session of The Borough Council of Jeleśnia (Żywiec County) took place, during which a first of this kind written agreement concerning the dark sky protection was reached between the local government and The POLARIS-OPP Association from Sopotnia Wielka. Following the principles of the agreement, both sides decided to cooperate in the field of temporary abatement of artificial light pollution of the dark sky, and also to implement the Leader+ program strategies later on. Sopotnia Wielka will be the first area to be included in the actions following the forementioned agreement.

We enter the new year 2009, which is the International Astonomy Year, with good news coming from Palowice – a place near Żory (Silesian Voivodeship). Thanks to the efforts of "O.M. Venatorae Astrum", a group of astronomy enthusiasts, and the POLARIS-OPP Association, it was possible to close the old year with completing the replacement of street lamp fittings (fixtures) with ones that protect the nocturnal sky from artificial light pollution. Palowice was thereby registered as area CN-002 – yet another example of how to effectively protect the dark sky for future astronomical observations. |
